As Freire relays in his book Reading the World and the Word,  good teaching practices are context-dependent.  There is no playbook.  For this reason, what I’ve learned here in Aotearoa cannot be copy and pasted into my school setting in the U.S.  Also, I can’t advise others in different contexts on what strategies to use for student success in literacy.

What I can do is invite educators to share what they are doing in their own classrooms and school settings at the intersection of literacy and cultivating belonging – in Alternative Education and beyond.
